Who’s ready for summer vacation?? I AM!!
If you’re currently sitting, standing or just basically existing in many areas of the U.S. you might be one the same page. This winter has been one swift punch after another for many of us between the snow and the bitter cold.
I just keep trying to focus on our family trip to DisneyWorld in July. I’m sure that once summer gets here and especially once we get down to Orlando in mid summer my stance might change. But right now, sitting at home knowing that it’s barely 20 degrees outside and it’s not getting much better tomorrow, all I can think about is that hot Florida sun shining down on me.
Now, don’t get me wrong… there are plenty of destinations to choose from for summer vacation that don’t include 110 degree days when factoring in the heat index. And my family is actually in the early stages of planning one of those summer trips.
Within the next two years we are planning on taking an Alaskan cruise. July in Alaska, well in parts of Alaska, can still be warm and pleasant so I’m not worried about having winter flashbacks. But as you cruise through Glacier Bay you really can’t expect it to stay warm enough for shorts… and we’re perfectly ok with that. Bringing a warm coat on a summer vacation seems like an odd plan until you remember all that ice around you.
I’ve also been tossing around the idea of an Australia cruise for a later date. Of course this will probably have to wait until we’re retired since the time away involved would give my poor boss hives. Maybe cruising the Panama Canal might be a better option in the short term.
Do you have any destinations that make your top 5 list for summers?
